Whispering Wilderness rests in one of South Africa’s last great untamed landscapes

The Waterberg Biosphere Reserve in Limpopo Province. A UNESCO-protected wilderness, the Waterberg is malaria-free, abundant in wildlife, and rich in natural beauty. The treehouse is located on a private game farm, ensuring true exclusivity.

From your deck, you may see herds moving quietly through the bush, hippos surfacing in the dam, or the silhouette of an eagle circling high above.

At the heart of this sanctuary stands Mike Boon—adventurer, visionary, storyteller, and author—whose deep values and boundless love for the wild inspired everything you experience here.

He has always seen the world as a tapestry of stories waiting to be told, and Whispering Wilderness exists to share one of the most intimate tales imaginable: two souls suspended above the quiet pulse of nature.

Years ago, Mike wandered deep into the Waterberg, drawn by its hush and its hidden rhythms. He foresaw a place where hippos rested at dusk, where star-filled skies felt close enough to touch, and where the wilderness spoke in whispers instead of roars. There, he envisioned a treehouse not merely built but coaxed into being—a dwelling in the trees that felt like a poem, an echo of romance and discovery, timeless and unforgettable.

Each plank of polished wood, every gentle draft through fabrics, and the flicker of lantern light at night honours that vision. This is a place where luxury is quiet, where service is invisible, and where guests drift through days shaped by every subtle sound—an antlered silhouette at dawn, water lapping at your private plunge pool.
